Hello. I'm Tamara Banks and welcome to TazMedia's website! I am an Emmy Award winning  freelance journalist, talk show host and documentary filmmaker, dedicated to creating social transformative change through excellence in journalism. I'm also committed to providing informative and well-produced and written news stories and articles for broadcast and print on tight deadlines.

My areas of expertise include: social justice and political issues, nationally and internationally, South Sudan and Darfur, and other parts of the globe where there is little or no news coverage. My work has been featured in numerous news networks including CNN, ABC News, HDNet's World Report, BBC, Al Jazeera America, WB 2 News, FOX News, as well as a number of radio stations and newspapers over the past 22 years.

I have had the opportunity to travel and see many parts of the world and gain insight and perspective on issues and events that impact us here in the U.S.

As a correspondent I have extensive experience in covering a variety of stories from breaking news like the Columbine massacre to the Aurora Movie Theater shootings to the massive floods in Colorado the summer of 2013. I'm also experienced in covering major issues like the gun rights debate and marriage equality.

When producing video pieces for for organizations whether non-profits fighting for social justice or corporations looking to improve internal and/or external communications I work with award winning photographers and editors to ensure a top quality product.

I also conduct media trainings and do media consulting. I'm excited to share my knowledge and expertise with those interested in learning how to access the media and pitch your story or event and take your organization to the next level.

Because of my extensive experience as a journalist, activist and global thinker I'm frequently asked to be a keynote and emcee a variety of events.

I look forward to sharing my insights and talents with you and your organization.
